Fan Edit: Hawkeye’s entire Marvel Cinematic Universe journey imagined as a complete short film

A fan edit depicts Hawkeye’s journey through the first three phases of the Marvel Cinematic Universe into an epic three-minute short film. Played by Jeremy Renner, Clint Barton, aka Hawkeye, first appeared in a major role in the movies in the MCU’s phase 1 team-up The Avengers. The character spent half of that movie under the influence of The Other in service of Loki, but joined the rest of the Avengers by the film’s climactic battle, having had his mind control broken by old friend Black Widow.

Hawkeye appeared again in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Endgame after being reported as under house arrest in Avengers: Infinity War. His family was introduced in Age of Ultron, and became a major driving force in his narrative arc across the remaining movies, with their disappearance opening Endgame. Barton is divisive in the MCU, given that he is a non-super-powered character taking part in events alongside literal Gods, but the character himself makes mention of this multiple times, acknowledging the ridiculous nature of his situation. Hawkeye remains popular thanks to Renner’s performance, though, with an upcoming Disney+ series focused on the character set to debut in 2021.
