In Chicago, 1927. A recording session, tensions rise between the trailblazing singer Ma Rainey (Viola Davis), her young and ambitious trumpeter (Chadwick Boseman) who aspired to make his own mark in the music industry, and the white management determined to control the legendary ‘Mother of the Blues’.
The project is the late Boseman’s final feature. Glynn Turman, Colman Domingo, Michael Potts, Dusan Brown and Taylour Paige co-star. George C. Wolfe helms from a script by Ruben Santiago Hudson. The film debuts on Netflix on December 18th.
