Peacock TV is now available across the entire Roku platform. Here’s how to download the NBCUniversal streaming service on a Roku device.
The Peacock app is now available on the Roku platform. In order to download Peacock TV on a Roku device, there are three simple steps to follow, starting with signing up for one of Peacock TV’s three plans. One plan is free, while the Premium plan is $4.99 per month, with an add-free Premium Plus option costing $9.99 per month. Once the user is signed up for Peacock TV, it’s easy to add the app to their Roku device.
Peacock TV was launched in July and as an NBCUniversal product, it offers current programming from NBC and Telemundo. It also features major NBC titles, such as 30 Rock, The Office, and Friday Night Lights, along with older classics, like Cheers and Frasier. Besides popular shows, Peacock subscribers can also choose from a variety of movies, catch daily highlights, or stream original content, like Brave New World.
Roku devices have been around for some time and there is now a variety to choose from. However, up until recently Peacock was not available on the Roku platform. That has now changed with NBCUniversal having now confirmed Peacock is now available on all Roku devices. Roku joins a host of devices and platforms that already feature Peacock, including Apple TV, Chromecast devices, Xbox and more. Before streaming Peacock, the user will need to be signed up to the service and as the app is available on multiple platforms, there are multiple ways to sign up, including directly through the Peacock website. Once an account is created, subscribers can start watching the content available for free, or click the Account icon in the upper-right corner and choose a Premium plan.
How To Add The Peacock App To Roku
After signing up for Peacock TV, the next step is to visit the Roku Channel Store. There are two ways to access the Channel Store — either visit channelstore.roku.com, or access the Channel Store directly on the Roku device. From the device itself, just select Streaming Channels on the left side of the main menu screen. There, users will see Peacock TV listed under Featured Channels, or when they search for the channel using the search bar at the top of the page. Once found, select the “+ Add Channel” button to add Peacock TV to the Roku device.
Peacock TV is one of the more recent additions to a host of streaming services, from big names like Hulu, Netflix and Amazon Prime, to free options like Crackle and Tubi TV. Another recent contender, HBO Max, also features big titles like Friends and Joker, although it now falls behind Peacock TV on device support. HBO Max currently remains missing from Roku and Amazon Fire TV. While this might not be a devastating blow, just one additional supported device can make a big difference. Especially considering that Peacock TV includes a free tier, while HBO Max doesn’t.
